Mobile Dental Unit
Thanks to many strategic partners including the FISA Foundation, and the Highmark Foundation, as well as private donations and funds raised through the annual Passavant Memorial Homes Foundation Golf Outing, Accessible Dental Services’ mobile unit is a reality!
Equipped with a lift to accommodate wheelchair access, the mobile dental unit is fully accessible to persons with physical disabilities, including non-ambulatory individuals. The unit includes two fully-functional treatment rooms, and is outfitted with all equipment necessary to provide both routine and restorative dental services. Non-sedation treatment is available, and when necessary to ensure a complete and thorough examination and treatment, professional anesthesia services will be available.
With the establishment of regional partners, a rotating schedule will be coordinated to bring services to the most underserved areas of western Pennsylvania. While not quite “door-to-door” service, the mobile unit will overcome travel and logistical barriers regularly experienced by many individuals with disabilities seeking to receive quality dental services. By being able to bring care closer to the patient, Accessible Dental Services can now take its team of compassionate professionals into areas that were just too far a trip for those needing specialty dental care to comfortably come to one of our four suburban Pittsburgh offices.
Our mobile dental unit (MDU) is specifically designed for non-sedation dental services. It is fully accessible to persons with physical disabilities, including individuals who are non-ambulatory, and is equipped with a lift to accommodate wheelchair access.
